I have noticed in this world that a lot of teenagers chose to run away from home. Teenagers chose to run away because they might not feel wanted or not cared about. That is their decision or choice. Running away is a choice. Teenagers or people in general might do it because they might want to forget the past and look towards the future. The people might do it because they want to change or have a second chance. Running away is a bold choice for people if they want to accept it. In the beginning after Johnny kills Bob. After Johnny killed Bob, Ponyboy said “We gotta get outa here. Get somewhere. Run away. The police’ll be here soon.” (57) From that, they mean that they have to go away so they don’t get in trouble or caught. Running away from it was their decision. On page 57, after Johnny killed Bob, Ponyboy said “We’ll need money. And maybe a gun. And a plan.” Johnny and Ponyboy didn’t really know what to do after Johnny killed Bob. They didn’t know what to do when they were running away. Sodapop wrote a letter to Ponyboy because they were worried about him. Running away is something people do if they want a new start. Johnny and Ponyboy had to cut their hair. Before they cut their hair, Ponyboy said “Oh no! No Johnny, not my hair.” (5 17) His hair was his protection and a part of his personality.
