Run Lola Run Movie Poster Analysis

Regarding my first project, “Battle Royale Book Cover”, my goal was to briefly summarize the book in subject matter and tone; I wanted people who saw the cover to be curious enough to want to know the relevance of the imagery, but not to gather all the details of the story because of the imagery. With my second submission, “Run Lola Run Movie Poster”, I wanted to visually explain the excitement and complexity of the movie; I did this by adding many elements to the poster (lot of words, multiple elements to the main visual image, many shades of red), in addition, I designed it so the elements, although many, would work together. Proceeding on to the “Shakespeare Project Poster”, I wanted to reflect the play, a collection of scenes of about 20 …show more content…
That being said, while in traffic stuck behind a bus with a banner for the fair on it, I found myself bothered by the placement of the image on the advertisement. The image was formatted the same as the up and down poster, although because of its extra width the formatting caused there to be awkward space and no real dominate element to focus on. I believe if the image of the child were cropped from the bottom of the eyes up it would allow for the image to be blown up larger, while keeping the child’s emotion still clear, (visible because of his eyes) through the apparent happy excited emotion visible. After seeing this flaw I realized some other issues with the image, a major flaw being that because all the items coming out of the child’s head are the same size, which makes it easy for viewers to glance over the image without necessarily focusing on any detail because the graphic has a lack of contrast within its self. For example, I believe that if some elements were larger, such as the ice cream, the clown, and the bumper car it would add more contrast there for be more visually intriguing. I feel that another improvement could come from adding an object such as a roller coaster, that would wrap around the other objects, forcing perspective, which, intern would add more interest and dimension to the graphic element as a whole. Overall, I believe the poster is an improvement from previous years and has some interesting elements, although it could become more effective and eye-catching if it implored elements that distinguished the main graphic

I have used a very commonly known technique that advertisers love to use; I have played on my audiences emotions. Through the use of the rhetoric device, pathos, I have shown images of children who are noticeably in pain, alone, and sick of living in bad conditions. I included a picture of a small African American girl with tears streaming down her face. She looks like she’s trying to be strong, maybe for her siblings, but she can’t hold her emotions in any longer. Two out of the three pictures I placed on the ad depict white children.…

There are three type of appeals that ad reflects, in which one of them is logos. Logos means logic, and my ad is best example of logical appeal. It not only contains social message of ‘not to drink and drive’, but it also tells about how one individual’s decision can affect other lives. My ad has perfect setting, and elaborating on that crash displayed in ad shows lack of intelligence, whereas visually it shows the prefect setting of destruction and cause made by driving in alcoholic state, and if that’s not enough it also has titles which speaks for the purpose represented. Second appeal reflected through advertisement is pathos, which is also known as emotional appeal.…

My argument is that ISIS is an issue that needs to be addressed and taken care of. My goal is for my audience, Chattanoogans, to see the billboard and petition for action to be taken against ISIS affiliates, and thus, ISIS inspired attacks. Because ISIS is such an imposing force worldwide, they are causing claimed direct attacks as well inspired attacks (those not enacted by ISIS but rather those who support the group). Therefore, I chose the word “affiliates” in my text to recognize that distinction between the two. Moreover, I chose my call to action to be “petition” because it is a reasonable action that most people can realistically do easily.…

Action: Q9 Identify the reasons for agreeing the purpose, content, layout, quality standards and deadlines for the production of documents When we produce a document we need to ensure it is fit for purpose and delivered on time. For example if my hotel manager asks me to produce a poster to advertise that in 2 weeks we will host a karaoke night, I would bear in mind the following for the production of the document: - The target audience is mainly our hotel guests but we can accept some visitors. - Understand whether it is a free event or a ticket must be purchased, if you whether it should be in advanced or at the door.…

When reading Night by Elie Wiesel and watching the “Save the Children” advert, both pieces use of powerful imagery like the way the little girl faces throughout the video and the first look at the horrors of a concentration camp. A theme that is present in both works is don’t ignore suffering just because it isn’t happening to you. Wiesel chooses to illuminate the theme through giving his reader a sense of being in the moment he experienced. Wiesel has just been taken from his home and is being transported to a concentration camp in a covered car.…

World War II propaganda had to be very convincing to get people on board and ready to do the work our nation needed. At first, not everyone was working with the force to make things work at home while the men were gone. The best way to get people on board was using media messages that were convincing. The use of eye-catching designs, emphasis on working together, and letting people know their help was needed made these media messages useful.…

Director D.W. Griffith employs a variety of innovative filmmaking techniques, under the categories of mise-en-scene, cinematography and editing, to tell his narrative in Death’s Marathon. I will focus on a few techniques that stood out to me as essential stylistic decisions that progressed the narrative. Firstly, the costumes and how they distinguished between characters, and events; secondly, the blocking and character movements and how they expressed emotion; thirdly, the lighting and how it distinguished between locations and guided our focus; and finally the editing and how it created suspense in the climax. These are only a few stylistic decisions that Griffith 's made, each one is equally important in developing the film form, however,…

Cinematic minimalism is comprised of a deliberate removal or absence of the typical clutter that often weighs on Hollywood-style narratives, differentiated by the lack of content rather than the presence of it. “It” is here summed up as the mise en scéne (everything within the frame) of the film, as well as the positioning of the camera and sound. Ozu shows a mastery of storytelling in deciding how to utilise camera angles, setting, and dialogue to accompany and surround a story he was well acquainted with by 1953. Tôkyô Monogatari (Tokyo Story) is a “patient stud[y] of an extended family undergoing a quiet crisis that brings out the contrasts across generations” (Nowell-Smith 420). Ozu uses space, the position of the camera, and dialogue (and lack of it) to create a story that carries the essence of what could be described as mono no aware.…
