The flight from Venice Italy to Berlin, Germany was only an hour and forty five minutes long. We had to get excited and figure out what we wanted to do once we landed, so we watched the movie Run Lola Run because it was based in the city of Berlin. In this movie, the Berlin Wall was featured and we were told by a fellow passenger that it is a must see. Once we landed in TXL (Berlin airport), we immediately found our way to the Berlin Wall. It was still early, only 10am and our check in for our hotel was at 4pm. We had to take a taxi from the airport to the wall. The taxis we are familiar with are slightly beat up yellow SUVs or cars. When we told him where we were headed to, he let us in on all the history behind this monument. Apparently the construction started on August 13, 1961 and was destroyed 28 years later on November 9, 1989. It was a defining symbol of the Cold War and was built to separate east and west Berlin. We made sure to tip our driver extra because the service was amazing and it was remarkably cheap! The 27 mile long wall is covered in beautiful art. We both stole a piece to keep as souvenirs. The next day, we had to visit the Jewish Museum because I am half Jewish and want to learn more about my religion. The original museum was founded on January 24, 1933, just six days before the Nazis officially gained power. The one currently standing was opened back in 2001. Visitors can discover 20 computer stations with diverse media applications that included documents, films, and audio recordings. Tianna didn’t seem impressed and was getting bored after the first twenty minutes we stepped into the building. I told her she could get to choose where we go next. She had decided to go to the
