Ruined Play Summary

Ruined I went to see Ruined in the 4th of October. The play was written by Lynn Nottage. It is about small bar in a town in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Mama Nadi owns a bar which offer female waitresses provide food and drink. Also, they offer accompany to bed. Christian is a salesman who always brought new things to Mama Nadi. At the beginning of the play he was talking to Mama Nadi about his last trip. He said that he has three women she could buy (Salima, Sophie, and another girl). She wanted just to take Salima, but he gave her Salima and Sophie. He said that she can buy one and the other girl will be free. She didn’t want to spent money for two women, but he told her that Sophie is his niece. She agreed to take them both. Salima and Sophie wanted to steal money from Mama Nadi to escape. Mama Nadia wanted to help Sophie to escape with Mr. Harari, but he went without taking Sophie with him. There were many facts that made the play successful which are the actors, stage, and the sequence of events. The actors and actresses were very good, and they did great job. There were a lot of actors and actresses in the play. Jayla who played the role of Mama Nadi is very talented. She impressed me because she represented rigor, and she did it perfectly. The Ruined play made the you see the suffering, then sows hope. The great sequence of events is not making you take notice of the changing scenes. There are a lot of emotions in sequential flow of events such as, despair and fear, then hope and happiness. Which made the audiences feel like they live in the story. Also, it made them be affected by the scenes, both sad and happy. Seeing the happy scenes after the sad scenes makes you feel that there is hope after all. The sequence of events is professional and well-arranged in an integrated
