Decent Essays
In Rudyard Kipling's fiction story, "Rikki-tikki-tavi", the theme of good vs. evil is demonstrated through Rikki's actions during his many conflicts within the story. For example, in page 26 it tells us that Karait tried to kill teddy but Riki saved teddy's life. And page 28-33 talks about nag and nagina trying to kill the family. Last on page 32-34 it tells us about nagina trying to kill rikki tikki. I think the theme is good vs evil.Rudyard first introduces the idea good vs evil in the scene where Karait tried to kill teddy for revenge, but Rikki tikki the great mongoose saves teddy's life and kills the small but mighty Karait.Another example of good vs evil is the scene where Nag threatened to kill teddy's family, but Rikki tikki wasn't

Artist Keith Haring once said, “Good and evil are intertwined and impossible to separate. They are not completely opposites and in fact are often one and the same.” Even though he was not referring to the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, his quote relates to an important theme in the book, the coexistence of good and evil. Rudyard Kipling is a well known author of Indian descent that grew up in England for much of his life, according to the article titled “Rudyard Kipling: patriot or prophet?” written by a professor named Michael Timko. In Kipling’s works, his content largely is inspired by his and his sister’s poor experiences living in England (Timko). In addition, Kipling uses his poems, short stories, and novels to depict “the relationship between the British and India” (Timko). Now in “The Mark of the Beast” and in “The Return of Imray”, we see that the narrative is rooted in the belief of British superiority. There’s just an unstated rule that British men are at the top of the social ladder and anybody else is morally corrupt according to common stereotypes.…

As a soldier, whether one is a British soldier like Danny Deever was, a Chinese soldier, or an American soldier, there are many duties and codes one has to carry out and follow no matter the circumstances, such as following commands from those above you. Through the poem of “Danny Deever” by Rudyard Kipling, a reader would be able to infer that there are there are duties that inflict pain mentally on soldiers. Even though the everyday citizen thinks the soldiers to be the toughest of the tough and the bravest of the brave, they are not always so tough mentally. That can be seen in Kipling’s writing when the author tells us that the rear rank is “breathing so ‘ard” and one front rank man fell down. Many of the soldiers, including Files,…

A theme that I seen going throughout the book, “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince,” is Good vs. Evil. We also learn about Voldemort wanting to inflict evil deeds upon the world in this book as well.…
