How does one learn to speak? In infancy stimulation and communication is key for a child’s language skills and usually will develop in an orderly fashion. What will happen if these key steps are not developed? For children whom have been raised in isolation they will lack the use of language skills and communication skills. While working with Jean Butler one of her special education teachers she would sometimes spend the night with her. Butler had concocted a plan that Genie was exposed to German measles and that she needed to be quarantine at her teacher’s home. Butler had become protective of her and restricted other team member’s access to Genie. Butler’s goal was to become the next Annie Sullivan. Child Protective services stepped in taking her away and placing her back at Children’s Hospital.
