There were also co-workers of Rudy’s that thought that he just needed to grow up and stop dreaming, but that didn’t stop Rudy either. Rudy’s best friend Pete always believed in him though, always supported Rudy in his dream and never put him down about it. After Pete’s death is when Rudy decided that it was time that he went off and started his dream. Then there was Father Cavanaugh, the one who helped Rudy get on the proper path to becoming a Notre Dame student, even when Rudy thought everything wasn’t going to be worth he Father Cavanaugh would reinsure Rudy that God has his own timing and that everything will happen when it’s supposed to. Then there was Fortune, who at the end was the one who told Rudy to get go back to practice when he was ready to give up on everything that he has been working so hard for. So in the end I think the people who did believe in Rudy made the bigger impact then the ones who didn’t believe in him. Rudy had people who were against his dreams and thought that they were childish and that he should just forget about it and grow up. Rudy didn’t let those people stop him from completing his dream in the long run though, he kept going forward and the only person who was in the way of his dream was himself. It was the people who did support him and didn’t think that his dream was stupid who kept pushing him forward when he was willing to give up. The biggest example of this was when Rudy was going to quit the team right before the last game his senior year season, but Fortune gave Rudy a big speech about how he was part of the Notre Dame for two years then quit and how he’s regretted it ever since, and how he knows Rudy would also regret it if he were to quit the team.
