This song has been written about an event that occured in the 1960’s dealing with the Civil Rights Movement. The song “Ruby’s Shoes” written by Lori McKenna, reflects the Civil Rights Movement, segregation, and the first black to attend an all white school. Ruby Bridges, an African American girl, attended an all white school for the first time ever. This took place on November 14th, 1960. She was only six years old at the time.
