They used to be supportive of the Inner Circle, and worked with them to gather all twelve blood samples and reveal the secret. They suddenly flipped sides and stole the chronograph; the Circle had to start all over with a new chronograph. During the book, Gwen and her best friend Lesley are trying to solve the mystery of what Paul and Lucy did. The circle also doesn’t trust that Gwen is with them; they think that in the future, she tells Paul and Lucy the Circle’s secrets. During the investigation of the Secret and the mystery behind Paul and Lucy, she finds out more and more about her past. She especially will figure out more about her birth, because signs in the book point towards Lucy and Paul actually being her parents. On page 2 of the book, it says “Tears shot straight into her eyes. ‘We shouldn’t have abandoned her. She needs us!’” This suggests that they are talking about Gwen and how she was given to a different family at birth. Therefore, during the investigation of the Secret, she will find this out. In this story, the process of discovering the mystery is actually more important to the story than the actual solution to the mystery because Gwen is trying to figure out the mystery behind her entire family, but at the end of the first book, she hasn’t solved the mysteries.
Ruby Red doesn’t actually solve any of the mysteries presented during the plot. Most of the book is full of ambiguity due to it being a three book series. But during her time in the past and present, she finds out more about her past, her present, and her future. The past might decide her future, but what she does in the future might also decide the fate of those in the
