A few days ago, my cousin, brother, and I watched this film called “Ruby Bridges,” and we watched it over and over again. My heart wrenched every time I watch it. This film also gave me some ideas about what the U.S was like back in the 60’and it inspired me a lot.
Because I’m the 20th century kid, and America became a freedom country, where all races can go to school and all can be friend, no racism. This is why the movie took me awhile to progress, to understand what just happened in the movie. Back in the 60’s, everything was new and different. The movie shows the fear of the whites back then“It’s not easy for people to change once they have gotten used to living a certain way. Some of them don’t know any better and they are afraid” my favorite quote by Mrs.Henry. And this movie also reflected on the issue of racism. From this movie I learned to be good to people that dislike me or do bad things to me. For example, Ruby prayed for the people who said terrible things about her and her family. Even as a little girl is she showed how if someone is bad to you, it’s best to keep your head high rather than started anything. When I showed my mother, who was for some reason kind of prejudice, she hasn’t said one word about not liking black people. My cousin had a hard time believing this was a true story until she looked it up. Even my nine year old brother, after watching this movie, was amazed when I told him this truly happened in America. The movie made a shocking impact upon my family.
After all, this movie gave me a better look about what it was like back in the 60’s but I know I won’t and can’t ever understand or feel what they had to go through. After watching this movie, I have more respect for people who fought for their own freedom, and I glad that the Civil War has
