In the book One of those hideous books where the mother dies Ruby leaves behind everything she has ever known and starts fresh at a new high school after the death of her mother , through Ruby’s journey she becomes a confident, caring, young women. In Ruby’s new life she realizes that people aren't always who you believe they are. All the way through the book Ruby is growing into her age and taking on her responsibilities that come along with growing up. As Ruby leaves her home she has always lived in she is nervous, angry, and sad this was not at all what she planned to happen, but after the death of her Mother Ruby’s aunt decided that she had better go live with her Father. Ruby was heart broken not to mention her father had divorced her mother before Ruby was born and she states at the beginning of the book, “This book is about me.” it tells the deeply hideous story of what happens when my mother dies and i’m dragged three thousand miles away from my gorgeous boyfriend, Ray, to live in L.A. with my father who I've never even met because he’s such a scumbag that he divorced my mother before I was born. This was going to be the worst trip ever ruby thought but little did she know positive and wonderful things where going to come out of this experience. …show more content…
