My life began to spiral downward before fifth grade began. I found myself an endless loop over summer vacation of waking up, experiencing the day as a blur, sleep, then repeat. This drove me to discover a new way to spend my day. On the television I noticed a recurring advertisement for a game called ‘World of Warcraft’. At first I instilled the mindset that I could spend my time pragmatically but eventually I succumbed to boredom.…

Imagine living in a fantasy world where everything is pitch perfect the way you wanted to be, but then, you wake up to the harsh reality to feel trapped and animated on the inside. This is how I first view my life story for the last three years. At first, I never thought this class would help me realize who I am nor what I have to value until eight weeks ago. To start off, I have looked at my life in a new light and sees how I should understand others before I judge them, as well as, to understand the importance of morals and values. Before I began my Freshman Development Seminar course with Professor Furet, I believed that this class would not be of good use to me. The reason for this was because of my beliefs in self-teaching myself to learn the basics with additional help from other sources. However, it did not turn out the way I wanted it to be. Therefore, I had to pay to get taught what I could have done on my own, at least that is what I convinced myself then and there. Throughout my class sessions with Ms. Furet, I learned more than I could have ever imagined.…
