Rube Goldberg Challenges

Decent Essays
For my Rube Goldberg my desired task was popping a balloon. After a lot of trial and error the project ended up working. The part of the project I believed I struggled the most on was getting the ball to drop the books. Another example is the bat would not hit the tire hard enough. My final example of a challenge I faced is originally I could not think of what I should do to pop a balloon. To overcome this challenge I went home after school and I look around my basement. I found a lot of old things I could use for my project. Those gave me the inspiration to use the extension cord. If I could re do the project I would use a smaller space for filming so getting all the action could become easier. Although I faced all these challenges I still

The things about challenges are overcoming them, and telling your friends and family about what you faced, in my case the challenge I faced changed the way I think about beautiful things, and about my life. How can something so beautiful be so treacherous? I was so happy enjoying my day, but within seconds…pure joy turned into fear. It was a beautiful day spent at schliterbahn, but hours being in the same placed bored me. I asked my brother for permission to go to the island, since it meant just crossing the bridge and there it was.…

The challenge I had to complete was Benny B.’s Challenge. I had to ride a wheel chair through 3 sets of cones with the best time out of my block to earn a point. What I found the most difficult in my challenge is the fact that you can’t see the cones when moving through them. No, I didn’t successfully complete my challenge because the other team had a player who has already had experiences with riding a wheelchair which technically means that they cheated, So I should have won :c. I think the challenge with the most difficulty was Spider’s challenge because It was difficult to pick up the chocolate covered marshmallows due to how slippery they are.…

Ultimately, Ervin agreed to take a respite from her duties as Rocket, giving the mantle of Rocket to a friend of hers named Darnice, who filled in capably for Ervin. During the process of making the box project we all had have to run into disadvantages and advantages of making a box project. To begin, an advantage I ran into is I have a visual of the box and how I want it to look like when I am done with the box project. When I have a visual of the box it helps me if i can touch it and examine it to figure out if I want it to decrease or increase. Second, a disadvantage I ran into is I originally wanted to make it 50% bigger but once i drew the net it turned out 50% smaller. I wanted to make it 50% bigger because I thought it would be easy to make it bigger I did my measurements right…

The egg-drop challenge was an success, for some people. Before the process of making the egg-drop for the project it was difficult because you had to make sure you had something protecting the egg. I made mines out of cardboard and popsicle sticks. The egg broke mainly because I had the parachute wrong because the parachute had a hole inside of it. I watched different people drop their eggs and like 90/100 eggs were broken.…

RGM Reflection My Rube Goldberg Machine is the PROTOTYPE-SR213. It accomplishes the simple task of lifting a cup. When I started brainstorming about the project, I wondered what I could do and how I could do it. When I finally came up with one idea, it was already time to make up two more ideas to pass the EDP. In the building stage, after I already chose what design I wanted to build, I made a bunch of changes.…

I chose to do my project on the Pyro board which is an adaptation of the Rubens tube. The Pyro board uses fire to demonstrate sound waves. I chose this as my project because I find music and fire fascinating. Having them interact to demonstrate the physics side of sound helped me understand all the different aspects that can effect sound waves and alter the way we interpret them.…

A project that excited me about learning was one of my science fair projects that I did with my friend. What we did for the science fair was we made a potato cannon, but since everybody does a potato cannon we wanted to expand on this idea. So we thought about how I can make the potato shot farther. We did some researching and found out that inside a gun there is a spiral that helps the bullet spin in a certain direction for it to go farther, kind of like a football. So inside the PVC pipe we carved a spiral on the inside to replicate the gun and we found that it had added about 25-40 ft. to the standard potato cannon.…

The water rocket bottle we worked on was very fun, what I leaned is that during the launch process, when you pump air into the bottle the air moves to the top while it pushes the water to the bottom. During the design process we made had to make the water bottle rocket we made it out of a regular bottle. But before we ever made the bottle rocket we had to brainstorm the ideas for the project. When we finally got down to work we had to cut another bottle in half to make the top portion of our rocket, I had to hot glue the wings on to keep them installed them on the outside of the bottle. Then we made parachute out of a ping pong ball, we had to glue yarn strings to the ping pong ball and used a tissue paper roll to the top part of the rocket.…

Back in September we got told about our I.B. project and were given some example ideas. None of them seemed appealing to me, and I thought about what to do, I had so many ideas of what to do and found the one that best suited me which was to create a video game and have people play it around the world. I knew video games from the back of my mind so to create my very own video game and have people play it would be outstanding. Although it did have a flaw, I had no experience in making video games. I had a general idea of what to do but not enough to get me far.…

Two words no one wants to hear come out of a teacher’s mouth: “math project.” That’s right, I, along with the rest of the math class was assigned a math project in which we had to build a functioning catapult that would launch a ping pong ball at least 3 meters in order to get it inside a small box. Talk about complicated. To make matters worse, we did not have the liberty to choose our own groups and enjoy myself while working on the project because she assigned the groups too. The group that I was in, wasn’t too terrible, but it could have been better.…
