Guy is an aspiring actor and would have went to extreme measures to become successful and therefore he did just that. He was so ambitious to the point where he made the inconsiderate decision of putting his wife’s life on the line to achieve this ill begotten success. Rosemary’s Baby uses the character Guy to symbolize the negative impacts that success can have on a person if it consumes their life. This can also symbolize the effect of taking the responsibility of one’s actions away and seeing their morals and humanity wither away. In the lines that read “You… you had me while I was out ?” to which his response was “ It was kinda fun in a necrophile sort of way.” His response was immoral in more than one way. The lack of moral composition and lack of direction Guy exhibits shows how being driven by success can be harmful to a person and the people around them. Guy yearned for success such that his morals were starved to the point of depravity. This symbolized the measures one would go for the greed of being successful in their lives. The many obstacles that Rosemary encountered throughout her pregnancy and while reading the book trying to figure out if she should believe in her religion or the signs she came across.
