Personal Narrative: Graff Diamonds Hallucination Watch

I am the Graff Diamonds Hallucination watch. My design is made up of 110 carats of colored diamonds set into a bracelet of platinum. I was purchased by a person firstly because of my overwhelmingly expensive price of $55 million. My owner bought me also because I am the most expensive watch in the world. I am always getting bragged about in front of others who are not as fortunate as my owner.
Another reason I was purchased, is because my owner does not realistically plan their money. The person values me the most, more than anything else. When, my owner takes me off I am placed in a very luxurious case. I am looked at throughout the entire day. Even though I should not be the focus for them, because they have more important things to do. My

In their mind, they expect others to say that they look good, which will make them feel good. A materialistic thing, like myself should not have been purchased just to look good. One of the biggest reasons I was purchased, was so that they could say they have bought me for this expensive price. It was all just to brag in front of others. Simply, to say their life is now set. Truthfully, their life is not really set.
I like to use the idiom “keeping up with the Joneses” to describe my owner. This person loves comparing themselves to others, on what they have and do not have. Especially, since they got me, I am the first thing they compare. Keeping me was apparently a need for them, is what it seems like. Truly, I feel like my owner has a deep connection with me. That is not good, because I do not necessarily bring this person happiness. I am sure this person thinks otherwise though.
My owner wanted to be one of the very few people to get me. The person wanted it for exclusivity. I feel like also their goal was to attract envy by purchasing me. They are so glad to have me, and they go on and on about me all day. This person truly had the wrong desires and the wrong reasons for purchasing me. All the reasons I have listed just shows they were not mindful before deciding to get an expensive item like

Ownership There may be many different kinds of ownership and sense of self, but to own something personal or valuable, you have to have virtues. As I defend Plato’s argument of owning objects is detrimental to a person’s character and Jean-Paul Sartre proposes that ownership extends beyond objects to include intangible things as well with the meanings of ownership. In addition to Plato’s argument, it means that if they lost that object, it may be harmful to who they are.…

Argument Essay During the Great Depression people did not have the money to afford fancy, useless objects. They had to save their money for absolute necessities, and they knew that their possessions would not make them better than anybody else. Plato, an Ancient Greek philosopher, argued that objects can destroy a person's character. Jean-Paul Satre, a twentieth-century philosopher, argued that ownership does not just stop at physical objects, also includes skills and talents. I agree with both Plato and Satre.…

What we see outside is meaningless, unless you realize what is hidden inside. I met a lot of people who had expensive clothes on and good look over all, but when I got to know them I realize how wrong I was. People pay more attention on status in society, materialistic things and what tangible you have for them, missing that personality and good heart make someone a decent person. It is impressive having a lot of money, but it is breathtaking having less and still share with others. A lot of people are being misrepresented by society based on their culture, language or race.…

The relationship between owning something and the development of a person’s character has been long disputed. It is a proven fact that what is owned by a person in their childhood, directly affects their character as a person. We live in a world where a person’s social status is almost defined by how much that person owns. The value of a person is basically measured by the value of all their tangible goods. Many philosophers and transcendentalists have discussed this topic in their writings.…

There are many other reasons to explain why the younger generation wants to reach high expectations for not only themselves but for others around them also. There have been multiple, different ideas over the centuries for what it means to "own something" and what that means for the "owner. In our modern society we associate the American Dream with consumerism; the two terms have almost become synonymous. We want what we want, when we want, we want it to be fairly easy to obtain, and it’s our right to be free to consume as much as we can. Because of the internet and online shopping going to a store isn’t even a necessity. With a few clicks of a button on a phone, tablet, or laptop, the shopper must never leave the comfort of their house to buy almost anything they wish at any time of the day. I personally have experienced the ease and convenience of online shopping this week.…

This is the case of most beauty companies, many of them use the media to project a false sense of beauty in order to sell their products. The company is known for having very famous models representing the brand, who all promote the same body type: very tall and skinny bodies. On the other hand, some brands have decided to fight against this stereotypical vision of beauty, such as the personal care brand Dove.…
