I. Organizational Structure

Functional organizational structures are used to implement all business strategies that a firm may pursue. Each of the major business functions is managed by one upper level manger; this person could be the founder, CEO, or president. The CEO or founder has knowledge of a multifunctional nature so that they can manage each individual functional specialist. Most firms with a cost leadership strategy employ a functional organizational structure because they have few layers, simple reporting relationships, and a small corporate staff.

They use product differentiation as a strategy. Product differentiation as a strategy means they attempt to gain competitive advantage by increasing the perceived value of their products and services relative to that offered by competing firms. By increasing the perceived value of their products or services, they can charge higher prices than other competitors, increasing the revenue of the corporation, and generating competitive advantages. Cruises offered by Royal Caribbean feature innovative, active pursuits and larger-than-life entertainment options on ships that are much larger. Most ships feature several pools, a giant rock-climbing wall, sports courts and its signature FlowRider surfing simulator. Entertainment options are consisting regularly of current Broadway musicals, dare devil water-diving shows and kid-friendly entertainment featuring popular animated characters from the big screen. Royal Caribbean differentiates its products in several ways; product attributes, relationships, and via linkages with other firms.

A. Product Attributes: Cruises offered by Royal Caribbean feature innovative, active pursuits and larger-than-life entertainment options on ships that are much larger. Most ships feature several pools, a giant rock-climbing wall, sports courts and its signature FlowRider surfing simulator. Entertainment options are consisting regularly of current Broadway musicals, dare devil water-diving shows and kid-friendly entertainment featuring popular animated characters from the big screen.
