Princess Wyrd found her voice, getting over the shock of Julie stabbing her brother in the throat. “I don’t understand your words. What have you done?”
“I poured Moon Mother healing-magic into his bloodstream. The magic will seek out his wound and start to repair it from within his body. I have exhausted all of the Moon Mother healing-magic that is within my body. It will take much prayer, time and rest to repeat such an expenditure of effort,” Julie retorted, closing her finger. “I have never before used such high-magic on someone outside of my clan. You should know the healing energy only works for a few days.”
The princess nodded her approval, marveling at the claim. “Thank you for ministering to his needs,” she whispered.

In the short story “What I Saw of Shiloh” by Ambrose Bierce, he describes a great contrast between the nobility of officers and the brutality of battle. He paints a brutal picture of war in when he says “This fearful scene was enacted within fifty paces of our toes, but we were rooted to the ground as if we had grown there.
