Roxanna Rosa Research Paper

Roxanna Rosa is a hard working mother who came to the United States at the age of 17 to work for her family in El Salvador. Since she was the oldest, she was the head of her family when it was about the money issues. Throughout her years of working in America, I have never seen discrimination until she started working at a specific barkery. She faced a lot of discrimination and harsh comments when she started working at this bakery. Panorama bakery is an environment in which it was 90 percent men and 10 percent female. When she came, her name was in a bunch of workers mouths. They whistled and would say inappropriate comments, she would get super upset that she would come home crying because she felt uncomfortable. This name calling wasn't enough to get into my mothers head, until actions were increasing. Some of the things that these employees did was steal her wallet and break into her car. He told her that she was saying all of the things because she wanted “attention” and that they were all lies. My mom was so fed up, she missed work a couple times because of humiliation. But the employer decided to see through the tapes that were around the times that the car was being broken into and the purse getting stolen. Luckily, the cameras were working and recorded the whole incidents! Obviously, he felt bad and needed to apologize. And that was he did and he wanted to change this. Due to the incidents that were happening to my mother, her boss realized that one of the problems were the gender in this bakery. My mom, of course, wanted to change because it is unfair.
