Montgomery Alabama bus boycott, 1955 The Montgomery Bus Boycott of Montgomery, Alabama is known as the crucial catalyst that jump-started the Civil Rights Movement. When Rosa Parks, a well-respected secretary of the local NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People) refused to give up her seat on the bus to a white man as she returned home from work, Parks was arrested. In 1955, African Americans were still required by a Montgomery, Alabama, city ordinance to sit in the back half of city buses and to give their seats to white riders if the front half of the bus, reserved for whites, was full. Whenever I think of the phrase "perfectly content,” I view it not as the state of being completely satisfied or not having the need for anything else, but rather a rare blissful moment in which even the troubles of society vanish and you just see the imagination and passion of humanity. Accompanied with this rare blissful moment is a serene feeling that simply is not replicable by any other means. Though it can be experienced anywhere at any time, I personally have my moments of “perfect contentment” while riding the city bus. Not just any city bus, ladies and gentleman, but more specifically the CATS #30 bus that runs at 4:15 P.M on weekdays. The Wedding I had the privilege of attending my sister’s wedding recently; this gave me almost an entire day to observe over 70 people of different sexes outside their natural habitat and interacting with each other. The assignment was to do this over a 3 days period, but on either flank of this wedding I was trapped in an SUV for 24 hours. Luckily the wedding and reception gave me THE observation to use with this paper. I have 1 obvious message of communicated gender, and while I only have 1, I think the magnitude of this message not only resonates with everyone, but it deserving of its own story, not to be shared with 2-3 others.…
