October 1, 2017 friends, family and strangers gathered to take part in the Route 91 Harvest festival. The Route 91 Harvest festival is a open-aired venue that lasts up to three days and is spread out on a 15 acre concrete lot on the Las Vegas Strip. Big country influencers such as Jason Aldean, Jake Owen and Sam Hunt were up to perform that night. As headliner Jason Aldean came onto stage and started to perform a series of pops echoed through the night. Aldean didn’t hear then, festival goers looked up at the night sky to try and spot the shimmering lights of fireworks, but there was none. As the pops continued to ring out Aldean was ushered off stage and people began to realize that they were the sounds of gunfire. But no one knew where they were coming from. …show more content…
Paddock was staying at the Mandalay Bay hotel on the 32nd floor that whole week, smuggling in seventeen riffles and one modified machine gun. He modified a rifle with a bump stock that allows him to shoot rapid fire. All of his possessions legal. I believe that this is where the problem lyes. He bought seventeen guns and a bump stock without a second glance in the time span of two-years.
The U.S. should tighten the process of getting a gun and make it more difficult than buying cold medicine, a puppy, or a hunting license, all of which is a longer process than buying a gun. Right now the only thing you need to purchase a weapon is your driver's license, two pieces of mail to prove your identity and address and to answer a ten question form about yourself. This easy process is not what should be allowed as it makes it easier for anyone to buy a weapon, concealed carry permit or not, a permit isn’t going to stop someone from taking a gun and doing what they want with

Concealed carry is a law that has been in controversy for several decades. A majority of people say that not being able to carry a gun is violating their rights. Others say that they don 't feel safe when there are guns around and can cause more harm than good. The use of concealed and carry weapons could reduce the number of mass shootings by making criminals not want to commit the crimes because the people who are armed would be able to defend themselves.…

Too often concealed weapons are looked at as the problem or issue in a crime, rather than the people carrying them. There are many ways to prevent people that are not responsible, nor sane enough from owning weapons. Due to media, along with unstable people, carrying concealed weapons is looked at in a negative way rather than positive, thus leading to many feeling that weapons do more harm rather than good. Carrying a handgun is a right, a right that the people in our country fought for and are still fighting to ensure.…

The process for being able to own and obtain a gun should be stricter because it would prevent many firearm related homicides, keep people from illegally obtaining a firearm, and help prevent mass murders. Many mass murders could be prevented by making the process for being able to own and obtain a gun stricter. For example, if Michio Tanaka’s neighbour went through stricter restrictions there would be no possibility for him to get a firearm, which he used to kill Michio Tanaka’s wife. This example proves that if the laws were stricter here, it could save people’s lives. This also shows that whether or not a person goes through strict rules can affect whether a person arrives dead at the hospital or not at all.…

It should be to reduce the number of people who carry guns unlawfully, especially in places -- on streets, in taverns -- where the mere presence of a gun can increase the hazards we all face” (Wilson, 126). James Q. Wilson’s idea is excellent. Government should be to reduce the number of people who carry guns unlawfully and increase efforts to combat crime, rather than simply execute gun control. Hopefully the government of the United States will make a right…

All states in the U.S.A should allow it's citizens to carry a weapon if the individual has no felony's and the individual is over 21. States that allow citizens to carry guns have very low crime rates compared to states that are strict on guns. Gun laws should not be as strict also because it is not the gun that kills people, it is the person. States in America that have lenient gun laws have low crime rate, for example South Carolina allows anyone with no felony's and over the age over 21 to purchase and carry a gun. South Carolina has the lowest crime rate due to the fact that criminals are scared that a gun will be pulled on them while committing a crime.…

By Federal law gaining legal access to a gun is a process simpler than a refinancing a family home in the United States. Our government states that under federal law a licensed gun dealer cannot sell any handguns and/or ammo to anyone that is under 21 and can’t sell long arms (Shot guns/ rifles) to anyone under the age of 18 but an unlicensed dealer cannot sell handguns to anyone under 18 and can sell long arms to anyone regardless of age. Everyday there are up to nine deaths under the age of 21 daily, leaving us with an issue that has been here for such a long time but has been continuously ignored and overlooked because most people go about finding solutions for guns in extreme ways. It’s not about getting rid of guns but controlling how…

In order to increase safety all throughout the United States time and effort must not be spent towards limiting gun owners of their rights. In recent years, a lot of debate had been going on about the laws pertaining to firearms. Unfortunately, with all of the mass shootings and killings being reported by the media, guns are given a bad reputation. Sadly, many people believe that they should be illegal because they are dangerous and can kill people, but what these people don’t realize is making them illegal will do a lot more harm than good. Guns have created a balance in society and if we were to take them away it could cause a lot of chaos which would result in more crime and more casualties. People deserve the right to bear arms because with proper training one could possibly save his/her life and also protect others.…
