Route 91 Harvest Music Festival Analysis

The night of October 1, 2017, was most certainly appalling for the citizens of the United States and even routed to the reignition of the gun law debate. The annual Route 91 Harvest Music Festival was booming with cheers and laughter from the country-loving crowd of approximately 22,000 people. Jason Aldean was performing the closing song on the final night of the three day festival and gleeful cheers were erupting from the crowd as they heard what they supposed were fireworks to close off the night. That merriment and hysteria converted almost instantly into petrified wails when individuals began to witness bloodied bodies tumble to the ground all around them. More than 50 people perished that night, and over 500 were wounded. It was one man who induced all this pain; his name was Stephen Paddock. He was stationed on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel, which is across the street from the location that the festival took place. He was identified as dead from a self inflicted gunshot, approximately one hour posterior to when the last bullets were fired into the crowd. A large amount of democrats have been brisk to renew their pleas for action on the those laws; the republicans have been just as quick to turn them down, saying their actions are premature and wrongheaded. Chris Murphey, has previously spoken up about the fact that Congress has not passed serious gun control laws, even after a gunman shot and killed 20 elementary school students and seven adults in 2012, calling it “positively infuriating”. A person could only assume that the Las Vegas shooting would make Congress feel the need to tighten laws when it comes to guns.
