Due to the complexity of this questions, terms should be defined so one has an accurate understanding of the meaning of words which have the potential of being impetrated in a variety of ways. For example, when one uses the term culture does one mean “a particular form or stage of civilization as that of a nation or period like the Greek Culture” (Dictionary.com). Or the behaviors or beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethic, or age group like the youth culture or drug culture (dictionary.com). Each of these definitions is vastly different then what one might be envisioning to use in order to address this questions. Therefor let’s define our terms. According Rothstein and Turnbull, in their book Managing Diverse Classrooms, a “culture is the system of values, beliefs, and ways of knowing that guides a communities of people in their daily lives” (Rothstein-Fisch, Carrie & Turnbull, Elise 2008 para. 5). In other words one’s worldview which is a pattern of ideas, beliefs, convictions, and habits that help us make sense of God, the world, our relationships to God and each other (Myers, Jeff & Noebel, David 2015 pg. 498). A broad perspective on one’s world view could be the western culture verse the eastern culture. However the worldviews or cultural perspective can be narrowed into categories such as Naturalist which includes atheism, agnosticism, and existentialism; Pantheism – Hinduism, Taoism, Buddhism and New Age Conciseness; Theism - Christianity, Islam, and Judaism; Spiritualism and Polytheism, and Post …show more content…
In order to have an accurate understanding of student diversity one should understand each of these world views in order to comprehend these cultures view in reference to gender, social class, and developmental differences because one’s worldview defines these terms which in turns affects the perspective and expectation of
