AmayaWood was a member of one of the most successful Summerville teams in school history. His senior year, he was a key player of the 2013 Sac-Joaquin Division IV Section Champions. AmayaWood averaged 9.6 points per game with 8.5 rebounds per game his final year at Summerville. He had nine games with 10 or more points, with a career-high 22 against Riverbank. AmayaWood finished his Summerville career with 484 points, 379 rebounds, and 22 blocked shots.
AmayaWood had offers from four-year schools, but he felt his best option was to stay in Tuolumne County and play for then first-year head coach Rob Hoyt.

“I let him know that Rosendo is the guy you want to establish the type of culture and program you want. I don't know what his philosophy is as a coach, but I know that Rosendo is what you want. There is no coach that wouldn’t' want a kid like him. Because it's so late in the game, it's not easy to find a 6-7 guy with a 3.9 GPA who's probably one of the best persons I’ve ever coached. Those guys don't just walk around. He saw film and liked him. I expressed to him that he's appreciably better right now then his is on that film you saw. He is so much better and his confidence has just grown. I told him that he is going to get a really good
