She met the intense stare of milky, brown eyes that possessed an eerie golden ring encircling the irises. The face recognizable from a previous encounter—Madame Rosamie. She sensed this strange woman could look into her mind and somehow know every thought she’d ever had.

The woman shook her head before replying in a husky voice. “She has waited a long time for you to return, but be careful, she—

I could hear them gossiping in the seat behind me on the bus, about Lyla, a cryptic like woman that lived on my block, about five doors away. She came out of a cab on crutches last night, which wasn’t a big surprise; because it wasn’t the first time she had been spotted like that. She spent much of the time wearing vast, dark glasses. Maybe she wanted an air of mystery, but the real mystery was whether she was hiding a black eye or not. “Well she is definitely putting up with something that she shouldn’t,” hollered the taller girl, with an air of authority.…

In “Amazon opens its grocery store without a checkout line to the Public” Elizabeth Weise explains Amazon latest accomplishment, the opening of the first technology-based grocery store that “lets you browse, grab and walk out- skipping the checkout line” (Weise 1). Weise maintains that this new concept allows shoppers more freedom, as they no longer have their patience tested as they stand in long lines in order to purchase items. Now, with this first store opened for trial purposes, customers can grab any item off a shelf or put it back and sensors and an app keep track of it all. The app is connected to a payment method and shoppers can simply “just walk out” of the store (Weise 2). Weise agrees that it does eliminate grocery store jobs but…
