Rosa parks was willing to sacrifice everything she had and was for the wellbeing of others, she was an active African American civil rights activist who fought against racial segregation imposed by the white apartheid system of government and whose actions led to major changes for black African Americans, she is now called ‘the First Lady of Civil Rights’ and known as ‘The Mother of the Freedom Movement’ (ANON, Wikipedia, 2016). An example of Rosa parks influential actions was; her refusal to surrender her seat on a segregated bus to a white man. This simple act by Parks sparked the beginning of the Bus Boycott and ultimately, major changes to all of America. Secondly, Rosa encouraged people to take a stand against racial segregation and fight for equality in America. Thirdly Rosa work with the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP), firstly as the secretary to the president of the NAACP and then as a youth leader.

She sat in the first row of the segregated black section (Biography.com Editors, Biography.com, N/A), but she and three other black passengers were soon demanded to relinquish their seats to a single white man by the orders of the bus driver; James F. Blake. Rosa Parks refused to give in to the white bus drivers demands, despite the risks of being beaten, verbally abused, and even killed (ANON, new world encyclopaedia, 2014), subsequently Rosa Parks was arrested and jailed., however after she was bailed out by the NAACP the next morning and began planning the protest against segregation in Montgomery, Alabama and thus began the Bus
