The most common reason for people to immigrate here is to be closer to a family member(Immigration Quiz). About 75% of most legal immigrants came to the U.S to be closer to family members. In areas like Veracruz, many people are experiencing poverty, corruption, political violence, and spread of diseases like malaria(Activity 5G). Like in the story of Ramon’s Journey, he experiences police brutality which shows the corruption there. There are also gang fights which show the conflict between the people in the country. If a foreign worker wants to come to the U.S for employment purposes, they need a sponsor. They need someone or an employer to request permission to allow them in. The foreign worker also needs to have a very high education level and can speak some English. If the foreign worker can speak more than one language it helps the company a lot more. If they also have family members who are citizens and wants to request permission to bring them, it also adds on to why the foreign worker should be allowed to immigrate.
