After the important meeting, Enrico made his way home. Enrico swiftly strode in the unilluminated, empty hallway of the lab, the only source of light was coming from the lone flickering lightbulb. Abruptly, a voice disrupted the still silence. Steadily, he tip-toed towards its source. He tried to peek through the small window, unfortunately, he could only see a blank, white wall staring at him. He was going to push the door slightly, but, the voice spoke again.
“As I was saying, by next week we will be conducting the same experiment on the scientist and the remaining humans.” Before he could listen to the person’s response, the door swung open. Consequently, he dashed into the next room. Taking a glance, the voice belonged to President Millard.
Walking along the concrete path, a cool shudder trickled down his spine, not from the cold, but from the words President Millard delivered, echoing through his mind every step he took. Looking around, he saw that everyone was miserable, but knowing what would happen to them, it would be more depressing knowing that their freedom would be stripped away. He needed to make a change. He had a plan. His plan was to free the survivors and himself by travelling across the boundary without getting
