Being personal and confined is not as easy as it may seem. Reflecting back to the “One Hour Unplugged” assignment Professor Neff had us do, I have realized that if you just take the time to actually have some “alone time” you will grow to appreciate it. To be completely honest during the first few minutes of sitting in silence, all I was thinking about was “Why am I doing this? There is no point to it”. After I got used to the silence I began to really appreciate it and saw the beauty in it. It made me feel spiritual in so many ways. All of the sudden I had the urge of saying a prayer, then after that I began to think about people in my life and how they are a big part of who I am. My mind started going places it has never been. I think I came out of that experience a slightly different person. It reminds me of Rohlheiser’s three aspects of what constitutes the soul; energy, inner clarity, and connectedness. The inner clarity is achieved through meditation and reflecting on your past experiences. That hour of silence had given me a taste of what inner clarity really is. Connectedness is achieved by becoming one with nature or with another being, which requires you to be active in your
