The Cold War was a scary time for the world. Ronald Reagan was the leader of the United States towards the end of the war, reigning from 1981-1989. His goals through his presidency were to end the Cold War while simultaneously renewing America’s economy by his Reaganomic policies. Before Reagan became president he was an actor and governor. He appeared in over 50 films and was the governor of California for two terms. Reagan was courageous in the aspect that he was willing to do anything to diffuse the Cold War tension despite any wrong move might spark World War III. He was level-headed the whole time he was dealing with the Soviet Union, and he was humorous. After his assassination attempt in 1981, he made a joke about it with his wife, “honey, I forgot to duck!”
Due to Reagan getting into presidency so late to the game he was only involved in 2 major Cold War events, however he still has many achievements from those and self achievements. It was not approved by Congress and was not discovered until 1986 where the National Security Council, the agency who made the illegal deals, got convicted.
