You might think the being the president is an easy job, but this is not so, especially not with Ronald Reagan. He was a president that would not let people push him around because of what they thought of him, and he was never afraid to stand up for what was right and true. Ronald Reagan was an amazing president that helped America through many hardships, including the Cold War.
Ronald Reagan ran for president in 1976 but didn’t win the nomination; despite of this, later on during the election he still got an electoral vote. Reagan never was a quitter, so the next election he ran for president again and swept the “Peanut Farmer,” Jimmy Carter, with 489 electoral votes to 49! But, only 69 days after he got into office he was caught in gunfire. A pullet pierced his lungs, narrowly missing his heart. The almost assassin, John Hinckley Jr., was arrested and sent to an asylum for being thought crazy.
