Ronald Reagan was an overall outstanding person and President because of his motivated personality, determined attitude, and community involvement after office.
Even before his presidency, Reagan was a motivated and impressive person. He was born on February 6th, 1911 to Jack Reagan, a shoe salesman, and Nelle Reagan who was an actor. After changing rom being a democrat to becoming a conservative He became the democratic governor of california.Winning by almost one million votes and then being elected for a second term. Then he set his sights on a higher political office, the president of the united states. He made unsuccessful bids for the republican nomination in 1968 and 1976 but he was determined not to give up. Then in 1980 he finally received the republican nomination. He beat his opponent Jimmy carter by a total of 489 electoral votes to 49. At the age of 69 he was the oldest president elected. With his landslide of a win his first term as president started alongside his vice president George HW Bush. BUt that win was short lived 69 days into his presidency there was an assassination attempt made on his life by John Hinckley. Luckily regan survived the bullet narrowly missed his heart but punctured his lung and he had heavy internal bleeding.But his sense of humor stayed intact when talking to his wife after the assassination attempt reagan said ḧoney I forgot to duck”and soon after he was back on the job determined to make a difference. Ronald reagan was a president from 1981-1989 serving two terms and because of his determination and drive he was able to accomplish amazing things in his presidency. Now this was a small and insignificant geographic location but sent a strong message to the communist soviet union, that there control can be liberated and that the us will fight.
