That’s why the hurtful comments of the people who did not like Reagan didn’t stick on to him. When Ronald and his brother Neil “Moon” Reagan were kids, their mother Nelle liked to read them stories and poems that thought them moral values. She told her sons that everything happens for a reason. She always saw the best in people because she believed in redemption. She believed that God freed us from guilt through the blood of Jesus Christ. With Nancy Reagan’s encouragement, he entered politics and became a republican. In 1966, he was elected as the 33rd governor of California. Then Reagan went to Washington and ran for president. As a candidate, he redefined the message of the Republican Party to get the votes of ordinary Americans. In 1980, he was elected as the 40th president of the United States.
Immediately after becoming president, Reagan worked on his campaign promises. He eliminated price controls on oils and gasoline. He also cut the taxes. As a former governor of California, Reagan learned that if you increase taxes, the government will quickly find a way to spend the money. Soon after he cut the taxes, he increased the budget of the United States military so that they could protect the country
