Mahatma Gandhi once famously said, “A man is but the product of his thoughts; what he thinks, he becomes.” Without rationally thinking through all choices and consequences, one can possibly become stuck in the outcomes of those decisions. Throughout the play, Romeo and Juliet made many judgements impulsively. Romeo and Juliet’s decision to pursue their relationship despite its forbidden and reckless nature demonstrates the destructiveness of their impulses. Romeo and Juliet have only recently met for the first time, but despite this, they proclaim their rash love quickly and suddenly.…

In this passage, Juliet is talking to herself in her room as Romeo stands outside listening while she is realizing how wrong her love for Romeo is because of the feud between their families. This passage is important to the development of the play because Juliet is convincing herself that there is nothing to a name. She focuses on this because she is trying to make it acceptable for them to be together. Through her monologue she chooses to be with Romeo despite everything because she loves him. In my analysis, I have concluded that even though Juliet doesn’t want to defy her family she personally feels that she must because she will disregard all of that to be with Romeo.…

Romeo’s heart was torn into pieces by Rosaline as she didn’t feel the love he felt for her, “she’ll not be hit with cupids arrow”. By Romeo using such depressing language to portray how upset and down he is shows the passion he had for Rosaline, “ sad hours seem long”. Romeo also uses oxymoron’s to describe how grieved and hurt he feels, “ I live dead”, O loving hate”. This reveals how confused Romeo feels as the unreciprocated love has made him feel shut down, “ I have a soul of lead”. Romeo uses negative words against himself to explain his emotions which points out to the audience that unrequited love is very heartbreaking and sorrowful and also that you shouldn’t love someone so instantly as it can result to disappointment.…

Introduction Paragraph From before the moment Juliet and Romeo meet, their love is entwined with death. Romeo senses a fatal end approaching as he considers going to the party at Capulet’s house where he will meet Juliet for the first time. Likewise, as she sends her nurse to discover Romeo’s identity, Juliet thinks of her death. The feud between Montagues and Capulets creates a world where the lives of the members of the houses revolve around fights and deaths that make it impossible for Juliet and Romeo’s love for each other to lead anywhere good. Instead, their love brings chaos, violence, and the deaths of their friends and of themselves.…
