Romeo Y Julieta Monologue

The scene is set in a 21st century Zoo. Amongst all the odd assortments of living creatures, live two zoo animals who strike up an unlikely conversation about their lives as humans so many years ago. One of these being old Winston Churchill, known as Romeo by the zookeepers (oddly enough also the name of the cigar he smoked: Romeo y Julieta) who smugly swings in a hammock humming a Marie Lloyd music hall song while a sulking Adolf Hitler, known as Blondi swims alone in a fish tank nearby. Unfortunately but unsurprisingly for Hitler, he has transfigured into a Piranha in his afterlife meaning he spent most of his life as a fish, swimming alone in circles with the odd tap of the glass by a passing child. On this early morning, the pair sit in silence like they normally did however on this occasion the usually quiet Blondi was the one who began to speak.
“How did I become this? An animal”
Romeo sighed and began to peel a banana. “You already were an animal. Your decisions were feral, inhuman and determined. Perhaps you’re the way you are because you were merciless. You fed off innocent peoples blood, and you were attracted to injury however I …show more content…
I went to Vienna to pursue my dream of becoming an artist however I was turned down by the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts in 1907, which angered me. I deserved a place at the academy! I had little money and my dream of becoming a professional painter had been rejected leaving me with nothing to live for. While in Vienna, I absorbed nationalism which was quite strong. I was engrossed by the beliefs that a union between the Austrians and Germans could begin an expulsion of inferior races. I must say, I was impressed by people such as Karl Lueger with whom I shared his anti-semitic views and hatred of Slavs. I believed and continue to believe heavily in Darwinism, I finally came to my senses that the real problem in Austria was the Jews
