Chapter 5 --Now, Where Have I Seen Her Before? Intertextuality is the relationship between texts, especially literary ones.
Intertextuality is very popular in our culture today, especially in television. A lot disney's fairy tale movies are similar when it comes to their plot lines. In both princess movies Snow White and Sleeping Beauty are very similar. In the movies both of the princesses encounter an evil witch, in which they end up getting put to sleep. Now the only way for them to wake up is with only a true love’s kiss. Eventually the evil witch in both story gets killed, and both prince’s wake up the princesses with a kiss. In the end they all live happily ever after.

A second example is Romeo and Juliet and The Titanic. These two

When I think of Twilight I think of Romeo and Juliet. It’s the same story line where the two lover want to be together but in the end it doesn’t work out, because they can’t be together. Only difference is Twilight has a little twist. In tn the book the two lovers are in an on and off relationship. Basically they are together then they get separated, which eventually they end up getting back together, in a sense like Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. In the work of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, the couple could not be together because of their difference in class, but one night they ended up being together, until they were once again separated. In the end they gotten back together with death. Now, Twilight on the other hand took that plot and gave it twist making it it’s …show more content…
In Ella Enchanted, a lot characters who play the same type of roles are involved. You have the evil stepmother, the prince, the evil stepsisters, and the fairy godmother. All of these characters acts and treats Ella just how Cinderella is treated, with the exception of the fairy godmother. In this parallel version of the movie the fairy godmother is very ironic. While the fairy godmother in Cinderella rescues the princess and helps her with her chores and find her a way to make it to the ball to meet her prince, it is not the same case in Ella Enchanted. Instead Ella’s fairy godmother gives her a gift of obedience. Basically she has to obey any order that given to her by any person she comes across. This so called gift later ends up becoming more of a curse, which nearly causes her to kill her

Film Adaptations: Romeo and Juliet (1968) and West Side Story (1961) Many films have been created based on novels and play scripts. Plays have transitioned from performances on stage to the big cinema screens. Since many legendary play scripts were created before our century, American film directors had to ask themselves, “How can an older piece of work interest the audience of today?”. Directors found it challenging to express an original piece of work while attempting to interest the minds of today. The characters in many older works lived in a different time and in a different country.…

Two texts can seem so similar on the surface but could end up being quite different as you explore their depths. This is shown through the contrast in William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and Taylor Swift’s Love Story by the use of literary devices and their vastly different structures to express the theme of love. In Romeo and Juliet, imagery was used far more to convey the love that the protagonists felt for each other while in Taylor Swift’s Love Story, repetition was more commonly employed. “It’s a love story, baby just say ‘YES’”…

Romeo and Juliet I made the characters into flowers, and they were carefully chosen based on what family they’re in and what their personality is. In Juliet’s soliloquy, she compares Romeo to a rose, so he is a rose in the book, and Romeo’s speech in act two compares Juliet to the sun, so she is a sunflower. Since Mercutio is part of neither family, he is portrayed as a tulip while Friar Lawrence’s character is a cactus that is drawn to symbolize a cross because he is a minister. For the names of all the flowers, they were just made to sound similar so the reader can identify who’s who. The color of the flowers that are given to each character is based on the personality of them.…

My first difference I noticed between the movie and the play was the choice of weapons. In the play the characters fought with swords but in the movie they had guns. This is important because since there was a difference in time period from the movie to the play they had to switch the swords for guns.also the important e of switching the weapons of choice was because swords are more dangerous, when you had a sword you had to be t close range to kill r even fight somebody whereas the guns you just had to have good aimed you didn't have to worry about getting into close fights. Another reason there was a change in the choice of weapons was because n the Elizabethan era they didn't have the knowledge or the technology to make the guns. The weapons of choice is a big difference but the major scene of Juliet faking her death changed lot more due to the fact hat the movie is directed by omens different than the play.…

The Importance of Setting and Context in Romeo and Juliet In spite of the fact that Romeo and Juliet is ostensibly the most original romantic tale in the English language, it depicts just a particular sort of affection: youthful, nonsensical, enthusiastic love. In the play, Shakespeare eventually suggests that the sort of affection that Romeo and Juliet feel drives lovers to institute a selfish segregation from their general surroundings. Romeo and Juliet shun their duties to any other individual, acting benevolently just towards each other. Sexuality pervades the play, both through indelicate jokes and in the way that Romeo and Juliet foresee fulfilling their marriage, however it doesn 't characterize their affection.…

Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy, not a love story. This statement has perpetually been a contentious issue, as plenty would believe that Romeo and Juliet is the finest love story of all time whilst others will argue that the story is not of love, but of lust. To make a well-informed decision, it is necessary to first comprehend and discuss the main themes and context of the play. Romeo and Juliet is a famous play, written by William Shakespeare about two teenagers, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, who fall into an ill-starred love and are obliged to keep it confidential. Their families are involved in a terrible feud and to love each other in public seems inconceivable for them.…
