The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a complex story. The source of most of the problems was Juliet. Juliet could have avoided all the issues by not marrying Romeo. Juliet’s decisions ultimately lead to the death of Tybalt, Mercutio, Romeo, her mother and herself. The first reason why it is Juliet’s fault is because she got married to Romeo without her parents knowing. “Come, come with me, and we will make short work, For, by your leaves, you shall not stay alone Till Holy Church incorporate two into one.” (Shakespeare 420) Back when the story takes place it was normal for the father to chose the man their daughter would marry.
