While Romeo was the chief of the two, she still had a moment considered by some quite foolish. One of her first impulsive maneuvers was when was conversing with the Friar and she said to him-” If in thy wisdom thou canst give no help/ Do thou but call resolution wise/ And with this knife I’ll help it presently./ [flashes knife].” (Shakespeare, IV, i, 52-55). She was about to commit suicide because Romeo was banished and she was about to marry Count Paris and she could find no one to escape. The best answer would have been to tell Capulet the truth and go to Romeo alone. The other instance of her instincts overcoming common sense is when she finds Romeo dead of poison lying beside her and she says- “Yea, noise? Then I’ll be brief. O happy dagger,/ This is thy sheath. There rust and let me die [Stabs herself with Romeo’s dagger and dies] (Shakespeare, V, iii, 169-171). She killed herself over Romeo because he was dead. This act was true instinct and no reasoning was present unfortunately. To sum, Juliet plays the other major role as she acted off of Romeo’s actions and made even greater repercussions to the families
