Shakespeare once said, “These violent delights have violent ends and in their triumph die, like fire and powder, which as they kiss consume” (Shakespeare, 1040). I chose this quote because I thought it went with the topic I picked. It means as if you rush into love and do without thinking it will end in a disaster. My essay will be about who I think was at fault for Romeo and Juliet’s death, how they were at fault, and what they did to cause it. I think Romeo and Juliet took part in their own deaths. First of all Romeo killed Tybalt and got himself banished. The prince was talking to Benvolio, Lady Capulet and Montague and said, “Let Romeo hence in haste, else when he is fond, that hour is his last” (Shakespeare, 1051). This quote is important because the prince is discussing Romeos punishment for killing Tybalt. The second thing is they both lied about them and did not tell their families. Juliet says, “My love, sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late! Prodigious birth of love it is to me that I must love a loathed enemy” (Shakespeare, 1018). This is also important because Juliet’s in love with the enemy, which is Montagues and their families, hate each other, therefore they cannot be together. The third thing is that Romeo took a position that killed him and Juliet stabbed herself. Romeo says, “Here’s to my love”
