“Who is to Blame for the Deaths of Romeo and Juliet?” "O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo?" Romeo and Juliet (2.2.35) We've all heard this infamous line from the play Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare in 1591. The tale of Romeo and Juliet is one of doomed love and family disasters. There have been many spin-offs and pieces of work that has been based on this play of two strong-willed lovers. There have also been thoughts and conversations as to who is really to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Some would blame the Friar Laurence, for this carelessness and for marrying these two kids for the wrong reasons. Other people would blame the parents due to their constant feuding. However, there is one person in particular who could be the most to blame for these tragic deaths, and that's William Shakespeare, himself. Everyone in Romeo and Juliet has their tragic flaw. Tybalt was a hot head, the Capulet parents were terrible parents, and the Friar Laurence’s morals were quite a bit off. Starting with Lord Capulet, Shakespeare created him very poorly.
