Romeo and Juliet The play Romeo and Juliet was written by William Shakespeare in 1594. I found a copy of this play on line and was able to read it. The web address to view the play is http://www.opensourceshakespeare.org/views/plays/playmenu.php?WorkID=romeojuliet. This play is about two families that are feuding, kids falling in love, and death. As fate would have it, two people meet and fall in love only to find out that they have a forbidden love. The Genre of Romeo and Juliet is a romantic tragedy style play. The young lovers are faced with tremendous hurdles. Romeo was faced with heart break because Rosaline was not interested in him. Juliet was faced with her father wanting her to marry Paris, a man she did not know. Romeo and Juliet …show more content…
The crisis began for the two young lovers. The dream of a life together would require a plan. Friar Lawrence had a plan for Juliet to drink a potion that would make her appear dead so she and Romeo could sneak off together. Foreshadowing of the death begins when the wedding was moved up by one day. Romeo thought Juliet was really dead and decided to end his life by drinking poison. He dies by Juliet’s side only for her to wake up from her sleep kissing Romeo’s lips and dying from the poison. The plot was resolved when both families discovered the dead bodies of their children. Their actions drove the plot from the time Romeo decided to invade the Capulet’s party to Juliet running off to wed Romeo. They are active protagonist because they drove the plot. The main characters of this play are Romeo, Juliet, Friar Lawrence and Mercutio. Romeo and Juliet are the main characters. Mercutio was an important character because he convinced Romeo to go to the masquerade party and also it was his death that caused Romeo to kill Tybalt resulting in Romeo being exiled. Friar Lawrence married them and devised a plan for them to reunite. The play pursued a romantic tragedy theme. I think that many young people encounter a forbidden love. At age thirteen many physical and emotional changes are occurring and kids are in love and out of love all the time. I know that was something I remember experiencing at that age was being so in love with someone today and the next day being in love with someone
