Friar Laurence’s wish to be the hero of Verona makes him ignorant as to what’s the right thing to do. Romeo filled with lust and not thinking coherently, he asks Friar Laurence to help him marry Juliet. To everyone, this is an absurd idea, but to the Friar, he sees this as a way to end the war between the two families. “In one respect I’ll thy assistant be/ for this alliance may so happy prove/ to turn your households' rancor to pure love” (2.3.90-92). He doesn’t know the extent as to how much the two clans hate each other and just sees this wedding as a chance to become an idol to the city. The Nurse can’t be excused for her actions either. The Nurse wants what’s optimal for Juliet and knows that she would rather die than wed to Paris. Sadly, she is pressured by Lady Capulet to tell Juliet to marry Paris, or else she could possibly be fired. The Nurse is forced to be selfish at this time and is influenced to give Juliet advice that is not healthy for her by saying. “Beshrew my very heart/ I think you are happy in this second match” (3.5.222-223). In other words, she believes that Paris will be a better suit than Romeo. This makes Juliet lose trust in the Nurse and at this point she feels in solitary. She decides that suicide is the only option. Juliet can’t even rely on the one person that has been by her side since she was a baby. “Ancient damnation!
