As perhaps one of the most famous plays ever written in history, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet has stirred much controversy since its publication in 1597. The love story is about two “star-crossed” lovers, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, whose families were feuding for an unspecified reason. A series of unfortunate events then occur, preventing the two from being together. Out of hope and desperation, Juliet decides to drink a potion given by a friar to fake her death—except, Romeo never catches on to the plan, and the play ends in the two taking their own lives. Though many factors may have played a role in the lovers’ tragedy, ultimately, Romeo's and Juliet's childish fervor and foolish choices led them to their own deaths. Both lovers
