There are many people you could blame for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, but one might also say the two households are responsible for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. An example of how the capulets play a part in this is when lady capulet says “Marry that ‘marry’ is the very theme I came to talk of. Tell me, daughter Juliet, how stands your disposition to get married”(Line fourteen, Act one Scene three, and Document B), the person one would blame in this quote would be the families(Capulet). This shows Lady Capulet is trying to pressure Juliet into getting married. Even after juliet says that she does not want to get married, her mother keeps pushing her into getting married by asking if she can “like of Paris’ love”( Line twenty four, Act…

The first reason the feud is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet is because it shapes people’s actions and thoughts. As you all know, the feud has existed for many, many years and is deeply ingrained into the minds of the Montagues and Capulets. In critical points in the play we watch the families’ hatred for one another compromise their…

Family Feuds Throughout history there have been several feuding families, the Hatfield’s and the McCoy’s, the Manning’s and the Brady’s, and of course the Capulet’s and the Montague’s from William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Throughout the play the Montague’s and the Capulet’s are fighting, with no clear answer to why. The best answer is a series of poor, irrational decisions. There is no way to find out the exact reason, but whatever it is, it would have something to do poor decision making on both sides.…

By making a reasonable decision, the play could have ended with the “pair of star-cross’d lovers” living happily ever after. This shows that Romeo’s emotions lead to his death and the death of Juliet when she wakes up seeing Romeo. Next, Romeo’s anger made him slain Tybalt because Tybalt slain Mercutio, who was a friend of Romeo’s. Romeo was banished from the city because of his crime which separated him from Juliet. In the play, Romeo says, “Tybalt, take the villain back again/Either thou, or I, or both, must go with him” (3.1.124-128).…

In Conclusion, I think that Romeo is a young, inexperienced and impatient but loyal and brave boy. I think that his naivety plays a huge rule in this because love was taken as an extravagant feeling to have when it was not truly happy as the lovers can experience heartbreak and many other obstacles. It seems as if Romeo only more cautious and deliberate, his devastating ending could have been prevented (even though we have not finished the book yet). Amongst friends especially Mercutio, Romeo shows signs of his social and quick witted persona, even with his fond of verbal jousting that is mainly about sex. Lastly, Romeo is like every other male in the world who only unveils their true self to the people who they trust or who understand them.…

Shakespeare shapes ideas about conflict through the ever present nature of the feud. All characters in Shakespeare's play “Romeo and Juliet” find themselves effected by the conflict, especially Romeo and Juliet. Act 1 Scene 5 is very much a scene about love as it is the scene where Romeo and Juliet meet for the first time and share their first kiss. However, Shakespeare reminds the audience of the feud and how it will impact Romeo and Juliet's love by adding moments of conflict into the scene. This conflict is evident in the line spoken by Tybalt to Capulet “This, by his voice, should be a Montague/ Fetch me my rapier, boy ....…

The Montague-Capulet feud is the backbone of “Romeo and Juliet”. Every conflict is rooted in the rivalry, and it is constantly being sustained by both families. The secondary characters show just how deeply rooted the tensions are, and by doing so allow it to persist, affecting the primary characters in the process. Take the very first scene for example, in which two Capulet servants are engaged in some ultraviolent, innuendo-filled banter regarding the Montague women. Sampson joking about killing the Montague maids, or rather taking their virginities in the quotes “I will be cruel with the maids; I will cut off their heads/…
