Romeo And Juliet Monologue

Decent Essays
Romeo: O Juliet! You make the priests bow down to you, you turn coal into gold and make any poor man feel wealthy. You turn any sad person happy, by the power of your smile. Your smile brightens up my day, and I wish that day may never end. The world, the planets, everything revolves around you, and so do I. The relationship of the Earth and the Moon isn’t as great as the relationship with you. May this night never end, and our love which will never end, even till we die. It is getting late, I wish you goodnight my dear Juliet.
[Enter Merchant.]
Merchant: Sir, would you like a bottle of our finest wine on this fine summer night?
Romeo: A bit of wine won’t hurt.
Merchant: It certainly won’t hurt a fine man like you.

Merchant: That sir, would be twenty dollars.
[Romeo checks his pocket.]
Romeo: Umm.. sir, would fifteen be enough?
Merchant: Certainly not! Fifteen cents is way too less, I would rather drink the wine by myself.
Romeo: [Chuckles] Sir, I meant fifteen dollars, not fifteen cents.
Merchant: I know you meant fifteen dollars, I was just joking with you. Business nowadays is running low, are people forced not to drink, by their wives? Whatever the reason may be, but your fifteen dollars will be better than nothing.
[Merchant takes out a bottle of wine, and hands it over to Romeo.]
Romeo: Here you go sir, your fifteen dollars. [Gives cash to the Merchant.]
Merchant: Goodnight sir, don’t get too rowdy with the wine.
Romeo: Goodnight to you too sir, but don’t worry about me, nothing can go wrong when I am here.
