Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare that is about two tragic lovers. Even though Romeo and Juliet is a classic and teens can relate to some of their emotions, the situations and lifestyles are not relevant to modern day, is rather inappropriate, and is sexist so it should not be read in a 9th grade class.
