Ultimately, Lord Capulet and his wife should be held responsible for the untimely and tragic demise of Romeo and their daughter Juliet as they were very oppressive, caused violent tendencies with their stubborn nature, and they did not generally care about Juliet’s emotions or opinions. In the inevitably tragic play “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, we are introduced to two young, star crossed lovers who are incredibly naive and unlucky. The two were extremely determined to make their relationship work despite the longtime feud between their respective families. However, while their love was true and intense, it wasn’t entirely at fault when it comes to their deaths.

Many times we see Romeo out with his friends and family, but we rarely see Juliet with any friends or extended family. Having the nurse as her best friend is slightly weighed against her favor, and partially due to the overprotective tendencies of her parents. There were even times where the Nurse, who was supposed to be the one who stood by and fought for Juliet the most, had gone and supported Lord and Lady Capulet’s unfair ideas even though they were detrimental to Juliet’s wants and needs. In the beginning, he was telling Paris how his consent was only a small factor in regards to marrying Juliet, he had to earn her hand in marriage for himself, “My child is yet a stranger in the world. She hath not seen the change of fourteen years. Let two more summers wither in their pride, ere we may think her ripe to be a bride.” (Act 1, Scene 2, Line 8-11). Soon after Tybalt is killed, we can see his personality shift.
