William Shakespeare uses stylistic choices to argue that impulsivity/haste leads to the death of Romeo and Juliet because it emphasizes the undoing of the novel. Lord Capulet orders Juliet to marry Paris. In order to eschew the marriage, she takes a potion that makes her appear to be lifeless. Unfortunately, nothing goes as plan because Romeo never learns it is a ruse, but actually believes her to be dead, and kills himself. In reaction, Juliet truly ends her life. Here, suicide becomes Romeo’s final act of impulsivity, as he believes that suicide will enable him to finally be with Juliet.
