Swedish Journalist, Stieg Larsson once said, “Impulsive actions lead to trouble, and trouble could have unpleasant consequences.” Romeo was the source of almost all tragedy in this Shakespearean work. This protagonist is a flawed character, and this becomes easier to realize throughout the play. He often reacted quickly, without thinking about the consequences. This is the impulsive actions mentioned in the quote. He had good intentions, but his intentions were not clear through his actions. Romeo did not try to cause himself and Juliet to die, he truly had good intentions. Romeo wanted them to have their happily ever after. This was an action of impulse because Benvolio wanted him to go. Romeo just went, ignoring what could possibly go wrong. Therefore, Romeo’s action of attending the party did not reflect on his intent of not going. Benvolio was right, going to this party would make Romeo forget about Rosaline. However, it would have benefited Romeo more if he stuck with Rosaline, rather than falling in love with Juliet. If Romeo had not been at this party, he would not have fallen for Juliet. If he had not attended this party that he should not have been at, none of this story would have ever taken place. He was in love with the idea of love and as a result of this he falls in love with Juliet the moment he lays eyes on her. At first he falls in love with Rosaline, a girl he loves very much.
