Romeo And Juliet Hyperbole Analysis

I found this oxymoron while browsing examples of them and thought this was a perfect example of one. The word “deafening”, which would imply an immensely loud noise, contradicts the meaning of “silence”, an absence of noise.
The poem was describing the imagination of a child from the child’s perspective. It would make sense to exaggerate it with a hyperbole because children’s imaginations are wild. This hyperbole serves to convey that kid’s minds and imaginations are exaggerations and not a true reflection of the real world.
Holden Caulfield, the character who said this, brushes off his brain tumor as being non serious. However, to have a surgery for a brain tumor is a very serious thing. The purpose was to convey Caulfield trying to bring humor to the unfortunate situation and to convey some uplifting humor to the audience as well.

They are being sarcastic because they offer to make fun of the speaker. I can imagine a sassy type of character saying this.
In Romeo and Juliet, a messenger named Friar Laurence was sent to inform Romeo about Juliet’s plan to fake poison herself.
