In Act Three, Romeo goes after Tybalt, after he finds out that Tybalt killed Mercutio. Romeo is in a bad state of mind and is upset because of his good friend Mercutio’s death. Romeo’s anger causes him to fight with Tybalt as a form of revenge for Tybalt killing Mercutio. Romeo says to Tybalt “...And fire-eyed fury be my conduct now…”(3.1.122). before Romeo kills Tybalt, he says that fury is controlling his actions and that his fury is now the reason for him fighting with Tybalt. Romeo lets his anger take over his emotions which prevents him from thinking before he acts. Then after he kills Tybalt, Romeo realizes what he just did and says “O, I am fortune’s fool!”(3.1.134). Romeo is acting like none of this was his fault and that he’s just a victim of fate, and that fate caused all these dreadful incidents. Romeo never reflects on himself and how he was part of the reason that these incidents even occurred. This shows that Romeo is totally ignorant of his impetuousness. If Romeo had stopped and thought about what he was about to do instead of acting on his emotions, none of these horrible outcomes would have occurred. However, Romeo’s rash actions causes him to get banished from Verona, and this leads him to not knowing of the Friar’s plan for Juliet to fake her death. Then in the end, Romeo not knowing of the plan is what causes him to kill
